About the Program

Offered as a 4+1 program or standalone Master's degree, the Master's of Arts in Teaching will allow
students additional time to complete the Department of Education requirements for certification while
deeply engaging in the liberal arts curriculum at Muhlenberg and earning an advanced degree—
something not possible in the current undergraduate-only programs.

Field Experience

The student-teaching semester (15 weeks) comprises four courses: two different student-teaching experiences of six weeks each and three weeks of on-campus seminars.

Certification

All students receiving Pennsylvania certification will take a series of exams, possibly including the Praxis Core Academic Skills in reading, writing, and mathematics.
